Global Yacht Globalarrow 68

Although the name Global Yacht Builders is new, the company's executives and managers are industry veterans who have combined their talents to launch this venture. Located in the heart of Kaoshiung, Taiwan, one of the premiere hubs of high-end yacht building in Asia, Global Yacht Builders' yard boasts 72,000 square feet of manufacturing space, a skilled and experienced workforce, and proximity to all of the services and crafts necessary to produce high-quality yachts.

For its first project Global has teamed with the renowned C. Raymond Hunt and Associates to develop a 68-foot express cruiser, dubbed the Globalarrow 68, which is scheduled to debut at the 2007 Palm Beach Boat Show. She will feature a galley-up arrangement with three staterooms on the lower deck, including a full-beam master suite, a VIP in the bow, and third stateroom on the starboard side, opposite an office/sitting room. She is also offered with a three-stateroom, galley-down layout. In either version the crew stateroom, with separate stern entrance, is aft. For owners not planning to have crew, the space at the stern can be fitted as a tender garage and utility room.

Her main deck is flush from stem to stern, unbroken by steps both inside and out, with an open floor plan that's exceptionally well-suited for entertaining. Expansive deckhouse windows offer near-360-degree visibility from the helm, and a retractable sunroof provides ventilation and dazzling sky views.

Embodying the latest evolution of the legendary Hunt high-deadrise, deep-V hull form, the 68 has a fine entry to soften the ride in a seaway, with plenty of flare to keep the foredecks dry. Prop tunnels reduce draft to a moderate 5'5" at half load and also improve propulsive efficiency, letting the standard 1,550-hp Caterpillars deliver a top speed of about 33 knots, along with an extended cruising range of 545 nautical miles at 20 knots. Other engine options include twin 1,000- or 1,800-hp diesels.

The 68's composite hull is fully cored and vacuum-bagged to achieve optimal resin-infusion, assuring maximum stiffness and strength with minimum weight. What's more, her entire interior is built of composite materials, honeycomb-cored to minimize weight. But you'd never know by looking at it; cabinetry, furnishings, and joinery come in a variety of rich-looking decorative hardwoods including cherry, anigre, and sapele.
