Vicem 63 Sportfish |
She may not have been sporting her optional Bausch-American tuna tower at her Miami boat show debut, but what the Turkish-built Vicem 63 Sportfish lacked in aluminum, she more than made up for in woodwork. Besides teak—found throughout the cockpit and in some motifs in the interior—Ducia and Kyaha mahogany adorn the saloon and guest staterooms from the crown moldings to the soles. The wavy, grain-matched Ducia and the russet Kyaha inlays add a rich, albeit almost overpowering, flavor to the decor.
The entire interior has a warm, coffee color, from the piebald leather settee that stretches along the full port-side length of the saloon to the L-shape dinette upholstered in matching leather located up a small step in the galley. In the center of the galley is a large mahogany island with three barstools. The designers seem justified in devoting so much space to an island, since it holds a climate-controlled wine cabinet and ice maker and adds an extra granite countertop prep area for the cook.

Below is a three-stateroom layout: a VIP with a queen berth, a master with king berth, and a crew cabin with bunk beds. For the convenience of everyone aboard, there's a head for each cabin and his-and-her heads in the master; there's even a day head in the cockpit.
But as the name Sportfish clearly implies, this boat is about more than luxury. Her cockpit has a livewell in the aft bulwark, ice maker, freezer, grill, and even a prep table on a hydraulic lift. Serious anglers will also appreciate the standard Pompanette Jumbo fighting chair with six integral stainless steel rod holders. And to help her aggressively back down on her catch, the 63 comes with standard twin 1,550-hp MANs. Push the throttles all the way forward, and Vicem says you'll see 38 knots. Her base price is $2.6 million.
Length overall: 63'8" Beam: 18'0" Accommodations: 1 king, 1 queen, 2 bunk beds Standard engines: 2/1,550-hp MAN diesel inboards

Cranchi Zaffiro 36 |
The space-conscious layout of the Cranchi Zaffiro 36 begins in the cockpit, where the L-shape settee flips forward to allow access to the engine compartment. A molded step and and a hollow under the helm give more headroom to the full-beam master stateroom below. The entrance to the interior is to port via a garage-style aluminum sliding door.
As you move down into the main cabin, what will strike you, besides the sharp contrast between the light teak-and-holly sole and the almost ebony wenge doors and trim, is the irregular shape of the room. It's built for function and comfort, and although its angles may be slightly nontraditional, they make access to the benches, drawers, and latches a snap and also enlarge the VIP.
Length overall: 36'5" Beam: 12'9" Accommodations: 1 queen berth, 1 king berth Standard engines: 2/300-hp D4-EVC/DP-H Volvo Penta diesel inboards
