Furuno’s new stand-alone plotter features an “ultra bright,” “ultra fast,” seven-inch-wide screen and a five-soft-key interface. It’s the first I know of that uses C-Map NT+ charts on conventional Secure Digital (SD) memory cards, which should make for easy compatibility with C-Map’s popular NT Planner PC software. (Note to current Furuno owners: C-Map just introduced a Planner reader for Furuno’s proprietary NT cards.) The $1,795 7000/NT also supports all current NT+ features, like the Guardian grounding alarm shown below, and is reportedly engineered for some interesting new C-Map features about to be made official (stay tuned). A $2,195 GP7000F/NT model adds a dual-frequency, 600- or 1,000-watt fishfinder.
