Unlike Nobeltec’s existing digital radar, its InSight hardware lets you integrate your favorite analog set with the company’s fine VNS charting software. InSight supports extremely high screen resolutions—overlaid, if you desire—and about every radar feature made. The choice of master or slave models lets you keep a separate radar display head in the system or go pure PC. Nobeltec has also announced a high-performance black box fishfinder and seems headed toward complete hardware/software systems. What’s more, the latest VNS 7.0 is the first to offer marine auto routing, a feature I had not anticipated so soon.

An InSight slave is $5,499, and the master is $7,999.
