B&G’s wireless controller lets you monitor and control the company’s Hydra and Hercules instruments and autopilots from anywhere on the boat. And should you fall overboard, it can both disengage the pilot and set off alarms. The 5"x3" unit runs 60 hours on a pair of AA batteries and is waterproof to the IP68 standard. Its 100x128-pixel transflective display can be programmed to display any data available on the B&G FastNet bus, to which its base station attaches. Besides giving a shorthanded boater greater freedom and safety, it also has an integral fluxgate hand-bearing compass to double-check your navigation. The device even includes a high-bright LED flashlight! The controller costs $1,200, the base station $300.
