Following
up on the success of its various fuel-management tools for gasoline engines,
Navman is moving into diesel. The 3300 system can deliver real-time gph,
mpg, and other valuable data by combining in- and out-flow sensors with
GPS speed information obtained via a NMEA or Navbus connection. Once you’ve
specified tank size and fill status, the system can also track remaining
fuel and compute cruising range. Moreover, it comes with a digital tachometer
input for yet more fuel-burn knowledge and help with synching. The dual-engine
3300 costs $1,600, the single version $1,000. Navman has not yet said
if diesel management will also be incorporated into its plotters and fishfinders,
as it has done with gasoline.
