Furuno has also introduced a 15-inch display. Like the Simrad, it can automatically scale any input resolution to its native XVGA and can also, as shown, window video input over another source (a feature known as picture in picture, or PIP). Yes, it’s possible to have an underwater camera showing images on your black box fishfinder screen, or whatever. Inputs supplied include DVI, two computer, and three video. A nice touch, especially for a complex system, is that you can give each input a custom name, like “saloon DVD” instead of the less informative “video 3.” But, perhaps most important, the $6,495 MU155C claims good performance in even tropical sunlight, employing antiglare coatings and more than 1,000 nits of luminance. There’s also a 12-inch model.
