Want
to be among the first to experience a new underwater adventure? Then hop
aboard the Deep Flight Aviator, a unique craft that can take you to depths
beyond traditional dive limitations—to a maximum of 1,000 feet—in
less than 30 seconds.
The DF Aviator’s
purpose, says its manufacturer Deep Flight Submersibles, is to provide
longer-range exploration at a higher rate of speed (up to 10 knots) and
for longer periods of time (it can stay underwater for up to 24 hours,
but due to human constraints, most dives will be a maximum of four hours).
It has a lightweight, high-powered composite frame with thrusters and
flight controls, and each “seat” (it comes in two-, three-,
and four-person models) features the same five-point harness used by Indy
racecar drivers.
If you want to purchase
and pilot a DF Aviator yourself, pricing begins at $1.7 million. But before
you embark on this endeavor, you’ll have to enroll in the three-day,
$15,000 course offered by Hawkes Ocean Technologies.
