Five years in the making
and in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Tuna Club, the Tuna Club
Foundation, a nonprofit entity that supports conservation efforts and
municipal programs in and around Catalina Island, California, has released
its book, The History of the Tuna Club. Take one look inside this
book’s hardbound cover, and you’ll immediately know why it took
so long to debut. Its author, Tuna Club Foundation historian and IGFA
trustee Michael Farrior, has put together the “most comprehensive
history ever done on the Tuna Club and its role as the founder of modern-day
big-game angling,” according to a press release.
And they’re not
kidding. The 225-page masterpiece is the most complete, historical documentation
of fishing I’ve ever seen. It includes everything from the origins
of sportfishing, to never-before-published photos dating back to the 19th
century, to the design and evolution of saltwater fishing tackle, and
more.
The History of the
Tuna Club makes a great coffee-table book and retails for approximately
$114.75 (including tax and shipping); all profits go to the Tuna Club
Foundation. Only 1,500 copies of this deluxe first edition will be printed,
and just 1,000 of those will be available to nonmembers.
Available exclusively
through the Tuna Club.
