Just
look at the Magellan SporTrak Pro. This handheld unit comes with a 9-MB
database that can display buoys, marinas, lighthouses, wrecks, and obstructions.
The unit’s 23-MB built-in memory lets you download street and topographic
map info via the optional Magellan Map-Send CD-ROMs. (The PC cable required
for this application is included with the SporTrak Pro.) The 2.3"L
x1.4"W LCD screen can display maps, compass course, speed, satellite
signal status, and more.
The
SporTrak Pro is powered by two AA batteries that should offer 14 hours
of operation before needing replacement. Rubberized construction helps
make the GPS waterproof (it’s said to even float) and lightweight
at 6.1 ounces. Options include a mounting bracket for the tender, a carrying
case, and cigarette lighter power adapter. Pricing information was unavailable
at presstime. The SporTrak Pro is available through Magellan electronics
dealers.
