These
days most of the yachts featured in both of our annual “100 Largest
Yachts” lists tout a large tender (quite often, more than one) and
sometimes even a helicopter, perfect for getting yourself to shore. But
wouldn’t it be nice to also have a car onboard for use when you’re
side- or stern-to? Well, California-based Commuter Cars Corporation has
one that’s a perfect fit no matter what size yacht you own. It’s
called the Tango.
This zero-emission,
battery-powered “car” is just 38 inches wide and 8'5" long,
which is shorter and narrower than many motorcycles, making it easy to
stow. That means hassle-free parking no matter where you are. Tango features
tandem seating and reportedly has a 50-mile range before its current battery
(the manufacturer is still fine-tuning things) needs recharging, accelerates
from 0 to 60 mph in four seconds, and tops out at 130 mph.
Prices begin at $10,000
and increase depending on options. It is available directly from the company.
