If you’re a regular
reader of our annual feature “The World’s 100 Largest Yachts,”
then no doubt you anticipate seeing at least one of these megabeauties
with your own eyes. Perhaps you’re an admirer of a particular naval
architect or builder and want to see their work up close, or perhaps you’re
just a fan of these yachts in general. Well, if you’ll be in Monaco
in late September, you’ll not only see “Top 100” members
Alfa IV and White Rose of Drachs, but you’ll also have
the opportunity to tour each.
That’s because,
from September 22 to 25, these two members of the world’s most exclusive
list will be participating in what’s arguably the world’s most
exclusive yacht show, more specifically the Monaco Yacht Show.
Every year for the past
13 years, this exhibition has attracted the megayacht industry’s
leading builders, naval architects, interior designers, and gear manufacturers
as well as numerous yachts from about 70 feet LOA and up. And each year
not only has the number of exhibitors increased, but the number of yachts
has as well. For example, according to the show organizers, 400 companies
and 90 yachts were on display last year, up from 300 and 65, respectively,
the year before.
Four hundred and fifty
exhibitors as well as 90 yachts are confirmed for the 14th edition of
the show this September. But what’s truly noteworthy is that at presstime
20 of those 90 yachts were confirmed to be making their world debuts.
Besides Alfa IV (built by Oceanco) and White Rose of Drachs
(built by Kusch), these include:
• an unnamed 62-meter
(203-footer) from Amels
• the Azimut 116
• the 42-meter
(138-foot) Blue Eyes from Baglietto
• the 144-footer
from Shipworks Brisbane
• the Custom Line
128
• the Riva Opera
85
• the Peer Gynt
70
• the 52-meter
(171-foot) Sai Ram from Benetti
For your chance to see
these yachts up close—or perhaps to negotiate a contract of your
own—contact the show organizers for ticket information and exhibition
times.
