The U.S. Coast Guard
Despite
budget cuts and manpower shortages, they've always been there when
we needed them, and never more than on September 11. In a city that
is an island, the Coast Guard, which rushed 12 cutters to New York
waters, not only provided security but ferried rescue workers and
emergency supplies to Manhattan and even monitored air quality.
Semper Paratus, indeed.
