Down East boats to see at FLIBS 2016

Must-see Down East boats at the 2016 Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show.

Hinckley T34 R

OUR TAKE: A lot of boats try to be all things to all people; the Hinckley T34 R is out to be a beautiful, fast runabout, that’s it. Her singular focus allowed Hinckley to hit the nail right on the head with this new model.

Sabre 48 Fly

OUR TAKE: Over the past few years, flybridge-type boats have lost some of their popularity. More’s the pity. But hey, Fly is back, Jack! And not only does this Zeus-pod-powered beauty from Sabre have a sightline-rich upper helm station, she has all the seagoing pizazz of the 48 Salon Express from whence she emanates.

Back Cove 32

OUR TAKE: It warms our hearts when a builder with solid success in larger boats takes a step back and creates an entry-level beauty!

Palm Beach 42

OUR TAKE: A nice, open layout, simple salty design touches everywhere, and the level of performance mandated by company CEO Mark Richards, the Palm Beach 42 looks to be another winner for a brand that’s most assuredly on a roll.

Hunt 72

OUR TAKE: We were one of the lucky few to see this boat in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and then in Newport, Rhode Island, well ahead of its Lauderdale debut. On both continents, the reaction was one of admiration. Check out the joinery.

Grand Banks 44 East Bay

OUR TAKE: We had the opportunity to sea trial this feisty little greyhound of the seas (stay tuned) and, whether we were slipping under low bridges or charging dicey inlets: wow!
