Outer Reef 610 MY

New Boats: Outer Reef adds plenty of volume to the 610 MY

Outer Reef 610 MY

A buyer came to Outer Reef with a specific interior vision that would require the builder to stretch its 580 motoryacht by a few feet. The result was a yacht that handled well in close and had excellent seakeeping characteristics.

You wouldn’t think 3 feet would make a big difference when stretching the 580 to build a 610 with a LOA of 61’2” for a discerning owner…

…but the extra length produced a domino effect that has resulted in one of the company’s most popular new models to date. (Shown here: alfresco dining for six is a breeze in the cockpit.)

“We were talking with one of our captains and he agreed,” says Outer Reef General Manager Mike Schlichtig. “The 610 ended up being one of the best-handling boats we’ve ever designed, especially in tight corners and docking.”

Her flybridge is equipped for onboard living, both underway and at rest, with overhead lighting, a Stidd helm seat, and not one but two L-shaped settees….

…So family and guests have plenty of places to relax and enjoy the best views.

Stepping through the salon door, you enter a space that shows the owners of Hull No. 1 took full advantage of Outer Reef’s $20,000 use-it-or-lose-it interior décor allowance to gives the boat a personalized look and feel.

Rather than closed off and compartmentalized, the space is nice and open all the way to the helm.

The galley is well appointed and situated between the saloon and helm lounge, so it easily services both locations…

…Whether you’re entertaining guests or whipping up sandwiches on an ocean crossing!

As for the pilothouse, a lounge abaft of the helm shows this boat was made to travel with plenty of guests.

That’s a custom wood steering wheel at the helm, and an open main-deck layout provides excellent sightlines from the pilothouse.

A curved stairway provides nonslip treads and a full-length railing to simplify access to the accommodations from the pilothouse.

A full-beam amidships master stateroom offers a choice of a king- or queen-sized berth, a walk-in closet, plenty of stowage (including under the berth), and a private head with shower.

The nicely appointed VIP stateroom provides easy-to-access USB jacks and wall outlets.

One reason Outer Reef’s knowledgeable client wanted the longer hull was to accommodate adult-friendly, side-by-side berths in the guest cabin instead of bunks.

Look for the 610 to make her world debut at the Newport International Boat Show in September 2017.
