Vicem to build a center console?

What makes Vicem unique is also what makes them reliable. Craftsmanship, especially when it comes to incredible joinery, is their calling card. Hearing that the Turkish-based company is jumping into the all-fiberglass center console market, well, now that’s something different.

The first in what the builder is teasing as a new range of boats is the 37-foot Tuna Master center console, with an express-style boat hot on its heels. Power for these boats can range from dual to triple outboards between 300 and 450-hp. Vicem is hoping that the twin 300-hp configuration will lend the boat a 40-knot top end and a 350-mile range at a slower cruise speed.

The builder tapped U.S.-based DLBA Naval Architects to lend their expertise in crafting what they hope will be a serious sportfishing platform—hence the Tuna Master name.

At first this line seems like such a radical departure for the traditional-minded builder who made their name in cold-molded motoryachts, that is until you lay eyes on some of the sportfisherman they built, such as the 63-footer that launched back in 2009. That model was decidedly handsome and at the time stood out in a sea of sameness. Time will tell, but we think that might just be the case for this line as well.
