Aquila 42 and 46 Coupe Debuts
Aquila debuted not one but two new power cats that belong in a category all their own.

Aquila debuted not one but two new power cats that belong in a category all their own.

Join editors Dan Harding and Chris Dixon for an early walk along the bustling docks the day before the official start of the 2025 Miami International Boat Show.

On February 3, law enforcement parted Interstate 26 like the Red Sea so the folks from Scout could get the largest outboard powered yacht ever built from their Summerville factory to a Charleston boat landing. A flat tire, a few hairpin turns and some seriously low clearance moments eventually found the 60,000-pound Scout at the W.O. Thomas Boat Landing.

The Valhalla 29 Hybrid offers everything you’d want in a bay boat with the addition of more freeboard and a proven hull shape to head offshore as well.

Powered by five 600-horsepower Mercury Verados, the 670 LXS—or Project Everest as they call it—looks to be everything Scout promised, and more. Enjoy a first walkthrough of what is, frankly, a record-breaking super console—it’s one hell of a boat.

Bright and airy, built to motoryacht-level quality and with social spaces that were once unimaginable in a power cat, the Aquila 50 represents a sea change in the catamaran market.

Editor-in-Chief Dan Harding tests Maritimo’s anticipated new flybridge flagship in snotty conditions off Ft. Lauderdale. Climb aboard for a video walkthrough here.

As editors, we’re not supposed to have favorite issues but this one, which we’ll be carrying with us at the Miami boat show, is one we’re especially proud of. From our cover star, the Maritimo M75 to our popular In Our Wake column, our goal was to offer a winter escape.

Back in the late 1970’s, naval architect Ben Ostlund was commissioned to design a raised deck, fiberglass-hulled boat that paid tribute to the gorgeous wooden cruisers of the 1920’s. The result was the stunning Fairchild Scout 30.

Meet Bill and Bonny Morong and take in the jaw-dropping concours-quality restoration they performed on a truly historic vessel.

Join the editors as they climb on, in, and all around the newest boats and yachts that debuted at the 2024 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

Step aboard with The King and I’s crew for a tour of a one-of-a-kind, four-year-long yacht restoration.

At the 2024 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, Prestige debuts a new 50-foot flybridge model that checks a lot of boxes. Climb aboard with us here.

In Cannes, we got a glimpse of the result of Axopar’s investment in Evoy electric with the debut of 22- and 25-foot electric outboard powered boats. At the Ft. Lauderdale boat show, the Swedish adventure boat juggernaut unveiled that 25-footer, the AX/E to the United States market. This versatile, single cabin center console features Evoy’s 300-plus horsepower Storm motor. We say “plus” because it’s capable of bursts to 600 horsepower. Axopar is saying that makes it the fastest production e-boat on the planet. And it has impressive range too.

At the boat shows, we’re always on the lookout for unique vessels. Invented by Erik and Robert Craig nearly 30 years ago and refined through all those years, these speedy little 30-horsepower, joystick-steered catamarans feature super-stable and tough roto-molded and foam-filled pontoons, rod holders, a bimini and plenty of other options. They, frankly, look like a blast to rip around on, or cast from in inches of shallow water. Have a closer look with Senior Editor Chris Dixon.
