#2: RISING SUN—452’8″
Could it be? Could Larry Ellison really have given a stake in this yacht to David Geffen? That’s
the news reported back in January by Valleywag, a tech-world gossip site: The Silicon Valley mogul gave his Hollywood buddy partial rights, perhaps to help offset costs at the urging of Ellison’s financial advisors, who haven’t been happy with his spending habits. Well, Valleywag got part of the story right: Geffen is officially a partial owner, but our own inside source tells us he paid Ellison for the privilege. And Ellison seems to have no intention of curbing his spending habits where his yachts are concerned, since we have confirmation that he’s building a new one in Europe. (Too bad she wasn’t already finished this spring, though, as Ellison could have drowned his sorrows aboard after his America’s Cup team’s shellacking at the hands of the Italians.) Regardless, wonder what Geffen thinks of the eight staterooms (yep, just eight) and the decorative stone wall inside Rising Sun?
