Christofer Suffeleers
One of the stars of our upcoming 2008 Megayachts of the World calendar, Enigma belongs to Aidan Barclay, member of the British family that owns the UK’s Daily Telegraph as well as The Ritz hotel in London. The yacht was originally built to accommodate a seaplane aft, though one hasn’t been kept aboard in quite some time.

FAST FACTS
Thanks to her two 5,000-hp Deutz-MWM BV16M628 diesels and a whopping 18,500-hp General Electric LM1600 gas turbine, Enigma‘s top speed is reported to be 35 incredible knots. But get this! According to diesel experts, a 5,000-hp Deutz consumes approximately 250 gallons per hour at wide-open throttle. Moreover, the turbine, an even hungrier beast, inhales 977 gallons per hour at full chat. Total top-end fuel burn? Roughly 1,477 U.S. gallons (or five tons) of diesel per hour! Best place to fill ’er up? A refinery!—Capt. Bill Pike
