Removing vinyl lettering from either a gelcoated or painted surface is much easier if your razor blade (shown here fitted into Kenny’s long-handled razor scraper) is as uniform and sharp as possible. Occasionally, the blade of a razor will be microscopically ragged upon purchase or become so with use. Lightly moving the blade across emery paper on a relatively flat surface (go with 220 or 320 grit) will smooth the edge and keep you from scratching the gel coated or painted surface under the lettering.
