The All-Around Favorite: Calypso 30

New for 2017, the Calypso 30 is the bigger sibling of the popular Calypso 26. When tied to the dock or idling on Sarasota Bay, the boat feels big for her LOA, with a relatively large cockpit surrounded by seating. You get the sense that you could have 10 guests aboard without being crowded.

Open up the throttles, and that’s when the real fun begins. The boat corners and jukes atop the water like a vessel half her size. Powered by twin 300-horsepower Yamaha outboards, this horse can run. At 4500 rpm, she galloped along nicely at 35 knots. I’d half expected that to be the speed at WOT. Really open her up, however, and she finds another level, one that, at 46 knots, pushes you back into the comfortable helm seat.

With a retractable aft sunshade, grill, fridge, and additional other amenities, spending a day out on the hook with friends will be a blast.
