Well-Designed Engine Rooms, by Capt. Richard Thiel (continued)

Fleming 65

The Boat: A true long-range passagemaker with a moderate profile that can easily be operated by a couple.

The ER Design : Befitting a passagemaker, the engines are elevated for better access and safety from rising water. Mirrors on the saddle tanks provide views to the outboard sides of the engines. There are two additional tanks forward, linked by a high-speed transfer pump. This is not a stand-up engine room by design, as making it so would raise the boat’s center of gravity and induce tenderness.
