I have to be honest with you; I’m not overly familiar with Hydra Sports, the Knoxville-based builder of fast, flashy center consoles. But I’ve been really impressed with what I’ve seen from them in the Convention Center. The 4200 SF is about as hooked up as a boat can get, and seems to be perfectly in line with the company’s unofficial motto, “Fish hard on Saturday, Sandbar on Sunday.” The boat had nearly 50 rodholders and plenty of cockpit space for fishing, though I suspect where this boat would really shine is at the sandbar (not to mention on the way there). Three bolster seats at the helm and three forward-facing “roller-coaster” seats just aft of that seem like the best spot to enjoy the high speeds supplied by four (4) Yamaha 350-horsepower. And an aft grill, lounge seating in the bow, a speakers the size of watermelons mean this boat is ready to rock. I’m looking forward to learning more about this company, for sure.

This helm caught my eye from a good 100 yards away.
