Boat owner Robert Moss is a traditionalist, particularly when it comes to boat construction. Over the past ten years, he’s owned and personally operated 11 boats, the last three built by Princess Yachts and marketed by Viking Sport Cruisers, based in New Jersey. The reason for the loyalty to Princess is simple, he says. The British company creates strong, reliable, solidly engineered vessels. Moreover, the yachts are practically arranged, with ample living spaces onboard instead of overly numerous ones. Why does Moss buy a new boat almost every year? Talk to him awhile and you’ll get the notion he’s a big-time enthusiast who likes to have the latest version. How long will he keep the 72? “When I bought my last boat—the 63,” he says, “I thought she was about the biggest boat I wanted to deal with. But now I can handle this 72 by myself if I have to. So who knows? Another couple of seasons and we may move on to something a little bit bigger.”
