Dan’s First Impression: I’ve enjoyed my time on previous Hunt Ocean Yachts, but to me they all felt like small ships. The Hunt 56, while sacrificing nothing in the construction and build-quality department, feels more like a large boat than a small ship. That has to do with LOA, but also with the strong sightlines from the lower helm and flybridge, not to mention the wing station, and the Volvo Penta IPS and its DPS, which make this boat feel like you could single-hand it in almost all conditions.

I think this model is poised to hit a sweet spot in the market at an interesting time—a time when many older owners of larger yachts are looking to downsize in LOA but not in quality or pedigree. Add to that new ownership that has made its name by offering incredible service to boat owners for decades, and you have the makings of an exciting new chapter for the Hunt brand.
