Greenline 42 Hybrid Walkthrough

Step aboard a practical and super-efficient cruiser.

With skyrocketing fuel costs and wider consumer acceptance, hybrid electric propulsion is having a moment. Slovenian builder Greenline has been ahead of the curve on this technology and with 20 nautical miles of electric-only range, their new two-stateroom 42 should be on your radar.

Chris’ take: With Twin Yanmar diesels, a huge array of rooftop solar panels and serious electric-only range, this well-built cruiser could save its owners a ton of money in both fuel and maintenance costs over a conventional diesel boat. Running at docking speeds in electric-only mode also gives this yacht incredible fine-point maneuverability. The diesel-electric helm interface is super intuitive and parts and service should be no problem with off-the-shelf Yanmar diesel componentry, Victron power management and lithium polymer energy storage. I’d say the 42 is well worth a look—and a sea trial.
