The Walker’s Cay Blue Marlin Invitational held in late May showcased to the world that the marina at Walker’s Cay is officially open. This legendary Bahamian sportfishing hot spot was abandoned after a hurricane in 2004 and sat idle for years until Carl Allen and his wife, Gigi, purchased the island in 2018 and began repairing the infrastructure. Hurricane Dorian devastated the island and Covid slowed down repairs, but they kept moving forward. For many of the boats and anglers that came for the tournament, it was a welcome feeling to be back at Walkers. The 77 Bayliss, Wave Paver, owned by Jr. Davis and run by Capt. Russell Sinclair won the event. A total of 26 blue marlin were caught. The future for this tiny island with a big legacy looks very bright.
