Boston Whaler 370 Outrage

An unsinkable lineage ready for both fishing and entertaining.

At just over 37 feet, the 370 Outrage is the largest boat Boston Whaler has built in its more than 50-year history. The patented Unibond construction method has been a feature of all of its boats, and the 370 is no exception. But can a boat this big really be unsinkable? According to the company, a foam cross section that extends to the top of the hull means that if this boat ever gets swamped, she will still be able to support 3,000 lbs of gear or people.

The 370 made her debut at this year’s Miami International Boat Show, sitting high-and-dry in the convention center. But that doesn’t mean that her hull hadn’t gotten wet. According to Boston Whaler’s test data, the 370 cruises at 35 mph and tops out at over 50 mph powered by her optional three 300-hp Mercury Verado four-stroke outboards (three 250-hp Verados are standard). A 4-hp Lewmar bow thruster is also standard, so lining up the port-side loading door with any spot on the dock should be a snap.

As many as 14 people can fit aboard the new vessel, and there’s space for everyone’s gear, too, making her attractive to family-minded boaters. A forward sunpad has stowage for supplies beneath, and the V-seating area in the bow features a table on an electric lift that raises and lowers with the touch of the button, converting the area into a chaise lounge. Another neat electric feature is a shade that comes out of the aft end of the hardtop, giving anyone around the helm area extra protection from the sun. If that’s not cool enough, an optional 8,000-Btu air conditioner with helm and cabin vents is available.

Of course, the 370 is intended to be fished too. So she comes with a slew of smart angling features such as a standard 55-gallon livewell located in the bait-prep station behind the three bolster-style helm seats. (Another 24-gallon livewell isolated in the aft bulwark, to port.)

There’s also a sink and electric cooktop built into the station should you want to fry up some of the day’s catch. And you can serve it on the optional Boston Whaler dishware, which has its own dedicated stowage below. Whatever part of the fishing haul you don’t eat onboard will keep in one of five in-deck fishboxes. (Optional chilling plates can be installed in them.) The hardtop is outrigger-ready and can be accessed via a built-in ladder so that you can get to the six rod holders that are mounted up there.
