Burger 72 — Valkyrie

The classic raised pilothouse profile of this 72 hearkens back to the commuter yachts of New York and Long Island Sound.

Burger 72 — Valkyrie

Valkyrie underwent a $1 million refit between 2012 and 2014, an indication that the previous owner appreciated well the lineage of Burger.

Burger 72 — Valkyrie

The engine room, which houses two 40-kilowatt John Deere industrial gensets, is a beautiful example of careful engineering and installation.

Burger 72 — Valkyrie

One of two guest staterooms forward.

Burger 72 — Valkyrie

The interior finish is Herreshoff-style, with white painted panels throughout, trimmed everywhere in teak.

Burger 72 — Valkyrie

Teak locker and drawer fronts contrast nicely with this finish, as does custom cabinetry.

Burger 72 — Valkyrie

Appliances-a-plenty: The galley includes a Fisher & Paykel refrigerator, GE “Café” full-size oven, Kitchen Aid induction cooktop, Badger garbage disposal, and Whirlpool stacked washer/dryer.

Burger 72 — Valkyrie

This Burger 72 sleeps six in three separate, en suite staterooms. It can also accommodate a crew in two separate, en suite staterooms.

Burger 72 — Valkyrie

Even the guest heads reflect the styling elements found elsewhere on the yacht.

Burger 72 — Valkyrie

The master stateroom is aft of salon, forward of the cockpit, and runs full width of the vessel. The stateroom has a walk-around queen berth with storage underneath.

Burger 72 — Valkyrie

There are twin night tables, a vanity, desk and chair outboard port with a full-length countertop, and a nine-drawer dresser.

Burger 72 — Valkyrie

The master stateroom has been thoughtfully designed with plenty of storage space; it also features several opening hatches and ports.

Burger 72 — Valkyrie

The owner’s head is opposite to starboard and has a stall shower outboard, teak with inlaid birdseye maple basin and a countertop with generous custom storage with teak drawers.

Burger 72 — Valkyrie

The aft doorway leads into the raised pilothouse from the master stateroom.

Burger 72 — Valkyrie

A single Stidd helm chair in black leather fronts the helm console, which is entirely constructed in teak, and is furnished with a teak-rimmed, stainless steel destroyer-style wheel.

Burger 72 — Valkyrie

Here’s one more peak of it—it’s that beautiful.

Burger 72 — Valkyrie

Four steps away is the saloon, comfortable and elegant in its own.

Burger 72 — Valkyrie

A pair of easy chairs upholstered in leather flank a locker to port.

Burger 72 — Valkyrie

Custom cabinetry abounds.

Burger 72 — Valkyrie

Ingeniously, this entertainment cabinet holds a TV.

Burger 72 — Valkyrie

Valkyrie is driven by a pair of 760-horsepower MAN D2842LE V12 diesels, and is said to achieve a cruising speed of 18 knots, with a top speed of 20 knots.

Burger 72 — Valkyrie

Tasteful layouts and smartly designed living spaces lend longevity to this fine example of excellent craftsmanship from Burger.
