Viking Announces New 90-Foot Flagship
For seven years, the Viking 92 served as the flagship sportfisherman for the New Jersey giant. Since the model debuted, 21 of these massive fishing yachts have been released to the sea. At the recent Ft. Lauderdale boat show, Viking President and CEO Pat Healey announced that a trio of 90-footers will be replacing the 92. The first version—the 90 Skybridge—is slated to debut at the Miami show in 2023. Open and Enclosed Bridge versions should be hot on the first boat’s heels.
Even though this model has just been announced to the public, Healey says that Viking has already taken 10 orders on the $12-million-plus vessels.
Part of the impetus for the refreshed flagship is the uncertainty surrounding Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) regulations—something Viking has been at the forefront in fighting—that could soon impact yachts over 90 feet.
The trade off for the 2 feet of LOA (17.5 inches are being trimmed from the salon) is a more svelte beam, which should equate to better efficiency while underway. “It will have speed, performance and the handling will be phenomenal,” said Healey. “It’s going to be a Ferrari.”
