Our first look at the Regulator 34

There’s a speech near the beginning of the movie Young Guns (1988) wherein a cattle hand explains to a newcomer why it is his group of men is called The Regulators. The speech—which was later immortalized in a song by rappers Warren G and Nate Dogg—explains that to become a Regulator, you need to be “damn good.” It’s safe to say that Regulator Marine feels the same way about its boats. And lately, that feeling applies to their 34 Center Console, which launches this fall. The company prides itself on its boats’ rides, no small thing when you’re launching relatively small craft into the bullying waters off Regulator’s native North Carolina coast. That’s why the 34 is built with a Fiberglass Grillage System that should help her to move smoothly and quickly through rough water.

An exceptionally roomy cockpit means this boat is highly fishable too, particularly when she’s outfitted with a transom fishbox, walk-through tuna door, and a livewell. The boat’s console has helm space for two 14-inch multifunction displays, as well as room below for a stand-up head and even a berth for some shuteye or extra stowage. An oversized fiberglass T-top provides much-needed shade, while burly twin Yamaha V8 outboards with 350 hp apiece will get you out to the bite and safely back home in the blink of an eye—depending on how handy you are with the throttle, if you know what I mean.
