Westport 125

The Westport 125 demonstrates all the benefits of a series build. And the best part: She was designed with plenty of owner feedback, so she's a natural step up for owners of the vaunted 112. But the designers changed one thing on the layout that makes all the difference. See what it is here.

Westport 125

The Westport 125 is the culmination of a process to develop a model with a certain kind of yacht owner in mind.

Westport 125

“We’ve just delivered Hull No. 57 of the 112 series,” says Ron Nugent, director of marketing for Westport Yachts.
“So there are 57 owners out there who would hopefully move up to the 125.
The first four 125s are spoken for, and all so far have been bought by 112 owners who moved up.”

Westport 125

Brand loyalty is a beautiful thing, and it makes sense for those owners, happy with their 112s and all that Westport has meant to them, not to need to jump ship to make a jump up in size.

Westport 125

“They’re comfortable—they like the brand,” Nugent says. “And it’s moving up to the next level.”

Westport 125

What does the next level hold? The 125 is a boat designed specifically to pry those happy owners out of their 112s with a combination of amenities and onboard space.

Westport 125

A few years ago, Westport introduced a 112 with a main-deck master stateroom. That one feature seems to have been part of the design brief for the 125 from very early on; it’s equipped with his-and-her heads and a centerline berth.

Westport 125

This arrangement gives you several advantages right out of the gate: First, you have the views and the bright and airy feel of being on deck. And second, it frees up space belowdecks for better guest accommodations and crew’s quarters.

Westport 125

Four en suite guest staterooms are situated in the amidships section of the hull, including three with athwartships queen berths, and a fourth with a single berth and a pullman above.

Westport 125

With its own entrance staircase forward, the crew’s quarters placed in the forepeak includes two doubles with bunks and a captain’s cabin, all en suite, and a crew mess with laundry.

Westport 125

Those who know the 112 will recall the crew’s quarters are situated aft. On the 125, that space aft of the engine room finds a new purpose.

Westport 125

“It’s got a hydraulic swim platform that comes out and opens up,” Nugent says.

Westport 125

“And you have an area just abaft the engine room where you have extra stowage—all your dive equipment in there—it ends up being a full beach club.”

Westport 125

There’s even a dayhead down there for the comfort of water-loving guests.

Westport 125

Since a boat of this size would obviously need a helm protected from the elements, the designers worked around the main-deck master by creating a pilothouse.

Westport 125

But rather than just a working pilothouse, they created much more. “It’s an oversized pilothouse,” Nugent says. “With a large dinette, it could serve as a skylounge as well.”

And there’s a flybridge with open-air helm above that.

Powered by a pair of 2,600-horsepower MTUs, the 125 has a cruising speed of better than 20 knots, according to Westport.

There are refined social spaces on the foredeck and the afterdeck..

There’s also a large on-deck galley, with plenty of room for everyone to spread out.

And any yacht owner who invites family and friends aoard would want to keep that in mind.
