Boats leak. Tenders get wet. And it always seems to rain when you most need to trek into town for provisions. Those are just some of the reasons why having a quality dry bag aboard is smart move, because, believe me, nothing spoils time on the water like damp clothes. Sea-to-Summit has been manufacturing dry bags for boaters and backpackers alike for years, but their newest model, the Hydraulic Dry Pack, might be their most boater-friendly option yet. Varying in capacity from 35 to 120 liters, there are options for the weekend warrior as well as the trans-oceanic cruiser. We (literally) tossed around the heavy-duty bag on a recent string of high-speed boat tests, and the bag bounced back with nary a scuff to show for it. The most outstanding feature of the Hydraulic Dry Pack is its plush, backpack-style, removable harness. The soft shoulder and waist straps provide even weight distribution, allowing you to—like I did—fill the bag to its brim and carry it across town, while leaving your hands free.
