7 New Must-See Marine Engines, by Capt. Richard Thiel (continued)

Seven Marine caused a stir in 2013 when it introduced a 557-horsepower outboard based on General Motors’ supercharged LSA Gen 4 V-8, which is used by Cadillac. Skeptics felt it had a slim chance of success. But Seven was back in Miami this year with a 627-horsepower version of the same engine. It’s available with the standard single-prop gear case or Seven’s new twin-prop CR unit. Impressive as the engine was, the real crowd-pleaser seemed to be Seven’s spacey SpectraBlade cowl, with strips of LED lighting that produce a variety of colors. Very cool. www.seven-marine.com
