You may have heard rumors of a new, much larger Nordhavn in the works. Well, the rumors are fact—the next new Nordhavn will be a 120, and construction is already well underway in China, with an expected launch date of mid-2012. Here are some construction photos just released by Nordhavn. Below you see an interior shot (looks like maybe one of the main staterooms) with some cabinetry and lacquer work already finished.
To begin preparing for a trip to Norway, I checked the weather (cool and rainy) and the charts (much farther north than I’d thought). But the most interesting part of my pretrip research was discovering that all the Scandinavian pop-culture references I could think of were Swedish.
Nordhavn has always been renowned for building boats with distinctive lines and rugged silhouettes, and the new 63 from the California-based company is no exception. The builder says that she should have a 4,000-NM range at 10.5 knots with the help of twin MTU Series 60 diesel inboards.
