Big volume, clever design, and an owner’s suite you have to see to believe. Come aboard the Lagoon EIGHTY 3 with us at the Cannes Yachting Festival.

Dan’s First Impression: Han Solo, George Jetson, and Neil Armstrong would all feel right at home aboard the newcomer from Lagoon. Why? Because this thing is a literal and metaphorical spaceship. Math was never my strong suit, but somewhere in the recesses of my brain I can recall that the formula for volume is length times width times height. With an LOA of 80 feet, a beam of 36 feet, and the air draft of a three-story building, that is a heck of a lot of volume.
Spending time walking around the expansive side decks, the massive flybridge, and a tennis-court-sized bow area—complete with a home-gym setup—at the Cannes show, calling this boat a power cat seems insufficient. Legend has it that this magazine’s founding editor coined the term “superyacht,” and since the day I learned that, I’ve been trying to follow in her boat shoes. Thus, I shall only refer to the Lagoon EIGHTY 3 going forward as a “super cat.” (Not as catchy as “superyacht,” but I’ll workshop that.)
Skip ahead to 5:05 in the above video and you’ll see what I mean.
As of now, the U.S. debut of the Lagoon EIGHTY 3 is not yet known, but when she arrives, she’s sure to make some serious waves. Subscribe to Power & Motoryacht today and ensure you don’t miss our full review.
