Meet Nistad Boatworks

Chris Nistad built a one of a kind sportfishing center console—for his dad.

Charleston’s Chris Nistad has built and restored iconic sailboats and hardcore sportfishers with some of the southeast’s most renowned builders. Seven years ago though, a serious project came in the form of a new center console from none other than his father. Coming off of a Hinckley and known for building a fleet of the best built, best looking tugboats in the United States, Pete Nistad would be no normal customer. But then again, his exacting son was no normal builder. What the pair came up with is hand-built, cold-molded perfection—high art in wood, stainless and fiberglass. Check out this remarkable build with the father and son duo and stay tuned for Chris Dixon’s Power & Motoryacht feature on Chris, Pete and Footloose.
