Green With Envy Gallery

Part of my high-school summers was spent working in a children's clothing store in my hometown near the south shore of Long Island, New York. I'd sit under the florescent lights in the overly air-conditioned shop, looking through the window at the clear-blue summer sky and wondering why I hadn't been as proactive as my friends who were working at the various beach clubs and marinas in the area.

Peters has to take to the land for this delivery, since the water is not deep enough for the Walworth.

Passengers are impressed as she makes it back in time to catch up with the boat-and gets a second to take a breather.

Some residents will meet the boat at their pier; one even sends his dog out to fetch the mail.

Walworth’s captain Neil Frame jokingly says that he’s worked for the company “forever” (translation: 1970).

Manager harold Friestad has been with the company since 1961.

Peters takes a huge leap in order to make this drop off. The mailbox is hung at the far end of this long pier, making it fun for passengers onboard to watch.

It’s Shauna Riggs’ first year as a mail person, but she obviously got the hang of it quickly.

The bench might be an obstacle, but her long jump gets her to the mailbox and back in time, so she doesn’t have to compete with the yellow rope tied to the dock.
