Antibes is a megayacht haven and a hub of the crew industry. Close to Monaco and St Tropez, the city attracts a lot of megayacht traffic.

Not surprisingly, the city’s limited dock space is very competitive. And sometimes that competition makes more news than others.

Today, the Internet has exploded with news that the world’s largest privately owned yacht was turned away from the port because the 256-foot Kingdom 5KR was already in the only space large enough. Not even Abramovich can get a Saudi prince to move.

Abramovich owns a home (one of his many) along the coast. And, The Sun reports, Eclipse is “languishing offshore just a few hundred yards from Abramovich’s sprawling beachfront chateau.”

So, how on earth did he ever make it home? The WSJ says, “Abramovich had to suffer the indignity of docking offshore and taking one of the boat’s tenders in to shore.”
