For the last few years, I’ve spent Thanksgiving in Savannah, Georgia, with my dad, stepmom, grandpa and his wife.

It’s pretty traditional—turkey, wine, boating.

And then, this Saturday the 27th, there is the Harbor Parade of Lights.

The Harbor Parade of Lights is sponsored by the Savannah Westin Hotel and held on the Savannah River. The participation fee is a toy that is donated to a children’s charity. And participants really go all out.

My dad has been a participant in going on six of the 10 years. And over the years, he’s developed an award-winning theme: The Night Before Christmas.

So if you’re in the Lowcountry, come down to the riverfront. Grab a drink from along the River Walk, participate in a Holly Days and watch the boats go by.

Or, drive over to the Westin, see the annual gingerbread house display, and stuff the ballot for my dad as the crowd favorite. (Now we’re getting around to the shameless self-promotion…) I’ll be on the 26′ Sea Ray, Sea Hawk too.
