Despite rapidly evolving building techniques, boating has a lot of traditions that remain from those early days of yore (also known as the days of yesteryear).

When Italian shipbuilder Tecnomar recently laid the keel for its 40-meter Impero yacht, a good luck coin was included. A coin in the keel has long symbolized good fortune for the yacht through her construction and long after.
But the aluminum-hulled semi-displacement yacht has an impressive enough pedigree to not rely solely on luck. A design partnership among Luca Dini (an increasingly popular name these days), Shipyard Style Centre, and the builders at Tecnomar should have this yacht to her owners in 2012.
The growing shipyard, which has also acquired the Admiral brand of steel and aluminum yachts between 32 and 52 meters (104 to 170 feet) including its construction facilities, always builds to RINA green standards and the 40-meter will be no different with her twin 1,920-hp MTUs.
