Word from investment circles is that Volkswagen is looking to increase its holdings in MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG, German manufacturer of marine diesel engines as well as trucks and power equipment. The news seems to have shifted the date of the shareholders’ meeting, but any substantive changes that will result are difficult to predict at this stage. It’s business as usual at MAN Engines & Components Inc. (MEC; www.man-mec.com) in Pompano Beach, Florida, the principal importer and service representative of MAN products in North America, Central America, and the Caribbean.

“It’s too early to tell now,” says Julia Milbert, a PR Specialist with MEC. “Call me at the end of June.”

Remember, Volkswagen’s long history of success includes victories by premium division Audi in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in all but two years between 2000 and 2010—and those cars have all been powered by diesel engines. What do you think the move will mean for the performance of MAN diesels, such as the MAN V12 1800 shown here?
