Azimut S7

When you get a look at the design of the Azimut S7, you may begin to understand how evolution really works, as good traits are kept and continued and amplified, while less successful attributes fall by the wayside. So it goes with yacht styling, and the renderings we have seen of the S7 surely limn a path toward the future. (The naming convention is also bold and new, as the previous model in this lineup was called the 77S.) The S range comprises Azimut’s Coupé and Sportfly models, with hardtops and abbreviated flying bridges, respectively, that keep the profile sleek and brighten the interiors with expansive sunroofs. This 70-footer adheres to the builder’s selective use of carbon fiber in her construction—it benefits the design, allowing for larger volume without adding weight and keeping the center of gravity where the designer wants it. That smart construction with a triple Volvo Penta IPS powerplant and Volvo Penta’s active trim interceptor system and joystick maneuvering all will combine for resulting performance—and a projected 35-knot top speed—to befit her profile. Her four-stateroom layout, plus crew’s quarters, is designed by Francesco Guida and is expected to match the elegance of the Stefano Righini exterior. Expanses of sunpad forward, aft, and on the flying bridge will show guests what relaxation is all about, the concept taken a step further as it evolves. The S7 will make her world premiere at the Yachting Festival de Cannes in September, and then come to the United States in November at the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show.
