Prestige X-Line 70

Boot Düsseldorf 2020: If you look at the product line Prestige has offered over the last 30 years, what stands out is what doesn’t stand out. Over three decades the design has gradually and continually evolved. This lends the brand a very recognizable and consistent brand DNA.
Perhaps the most radical departure to date is the announcement of the new Prestige X-Line, starting with the X70 that is currently in build.
“We started with the notion of creating your own private island. We needed a design that would be a revolution on the market,” said Erik Stromberg, director of product marketing. “The biggest departure was how we blended the interior and exterior together.”
Initial renderings reveal a single-level cockpit and salon with a lager beach club than on any prior Prestige. Forward of the salon, ahead of a super yacht-style centerline helm is the galley. Hull number one will have an open concept galley that serves the surroundings spaces but they also offer the option to enclose the galley. I suspect the former will be the more popular option.

In order to make good on their “private island” design brief, the Prestige team is incorporating some of the largest opening windows–nearly 6 feet wide–I’ve seen in this size range.
One of the larger standout features of the X70 looks to be the flybridge, which is, well, larger. An expansive space, it can be accessed by not one or two, but count ‘em, four separate staircases.
Accommodations come via a master suite forward, two or three cabins amidships and crew quarters aft.
But on a boat like this, open windows only whet the appetite for the outdoors. A nice touch is that the three main outdoor social spaces come equipped with sunshades so you can enjoy your surroundings without the requisite sunburn.
Power comes via 900-hp IPS 1200s or 1,000-hp IPS 1350s. Hull one, equipped with the larger power plants, should sport a top end of 28 knots with a 22-knot cruise. At cruising speed, thanks to a 1,056-gallon fuel capacity, the 70 should have a range of 500 nm.
The X70 is slatted to begin sea trials in August and will debut in Cannes and Ft. Lauderdale this fall (2020).
