At the heart of boating, there are a few simple values, one of which is the importance of having some plain, good-old-fashioned fun. You don’t need much to do that. Strap a 40-hp outboard to a dinghy and you can still have a blast out on the water. However, when your boat is specifically designed to maximize her owner’s boating pleasure, well, then you’re really cooking with gas. To that end, might I introduce you to the Hinckley T34, which launched this past July. Her twin 260-hp Yanmar diesels matched to Hamilton jet drives can get her up to a jaunty 32 knots on the pins. Hinckley also maintains that she handles with a high degree of agility, so you can swoop through turns with all the grace and power you could ask for. The boat’s low freeboard complements this sportiness by keeping your passengers close to the water for maximum exhilaration. Meanwhile, since the T34 isn’t overly large or overpowered, she can also tow the kids behind on a blow-up tube. Remember doing that as a kid? That’s the reason they invented the word fun.

Another fine feature of the T34 is her scant 22-inch draft, which means you can easily pull into skinny water and wade to shore for a barbecue or quick game of  catch. And of course, she’s built with Hinckley’s iconic lines, so no matter what kind of fun you get into, you’ll always look good. And that’s a hard combination to beat.
