Hot Take: Jupiter continues to build creative boats on its
proven running surface but it’s the interiors that may surprise you.

Jupiter Marine International has ridden the wave of interest in tough, offshore-ready center consoles since its founding in 1989. Over the years the builder has helped to push the evolution of LOA and belowdecks space in new and creative directions, moving from just a head compartment beneath the console to a selection of cuddy cabin boats and even a full-blown outboardpowered express model in the 41 Sport Bridge.

But don’t look away, because the new Jupiter 34 LX may just double down on the company’s bet on interior space. The 34 LX has an amidships berth situated abaft the companionway, and a V-shaped dinette in the forepeak that converts to another berth. An enclosed wet head is positioned to starboard opposite a serviceable galley with microwave oven, sink, and an undercounter fridge.

On deck a helm console stretches to meet the starboard covering board. Forward of the helm is a high-sided sitting area, offering privacy and protection from the elements via the boat’s beefy hardtop and its wraparound windscreen. That helm console has real estate for big-screen electronics, as well as room for equipment inside, including a Fischer Panda genset in a soundproof box in a locker beneath it. The leaning post comprises a pair of bolstered helm seats and an aft-facing seat for two. A folding transom bench, rod stowage, and a dive door round out cockpit amenities.

An integrated bracket abaft the transom accepts up to three 300-horsepower outboards. Jupiter says the engine package pushed the 34 LX, which has an operating weight of 14,500 pounds, to a 30-knot cruise and a 50-knot top speed. Jupiter attributes the ride to the Posi-Stern hull pad, saying it ensures pleasing running angles throughout the speed curve.

The 34 LX seems to have a ready answer for the question, “Why not do it all?”
