We tracked down the inside scoop on what boatbuilders are up to next.

A quick interview with Gary Nordlund, Vice President of Nordlund. The Tacoma, Washington-based company launched this 115-foot beauty last month.

Power & Motoryacht: How’s this boat going to be used?
Gary Nordlund: This yachtfisher will be used for fishing down the West Coast, into Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, and all that. The boat will be used for fishing but there will also be crew and family onboard. It’s a yachtfisher but also a family boat too. There’s a hot tub up top, people seem to be excited about that. Oh and the interior is really something, it was designed by Jonathan Quinn-Barnett of JQB Ltd.

Power & Motoryacht: This is a huge fishing boat, were you concerned at all about her agility?
Gary Nordlund: Nope that wasn’t a particular for us. We’ve built 111- and 106-foot boats that people fish pretty hard. We know what we’re doing around here.
