We tracked down the inside scoop on what boatbuilders are up to next.

I spoke with Outer Reef President and CEO Jeff Druek about his company’s latest project, the 530 Trident, a boat he’s been working on for quite some time now, and one that should please a niche group of boaters. “The idea for the 530 Trident was born from extensive market research and numerous requests from our clients,” Druek says. “Outer Reef takes that feedback very seriously. And what we were consistently hearing were calls for an all-in-one vessel presenting cruising flexibility, safety, functionality, economy, and an alluring retro-classic look. This is essentially the realized version of an extensive owner-generated wish list. What’s more, her owner can be confident in her capability for long-range cruising or, on the other hand, for providing a quick weekend jaunt.” The boat, which Druek plans on being the first in the new Trident line—with 65- and 75-foot iterations slated—looks like she will be ready to debut at the 2016 Miami Yacht and Brokerage show, or perhaps even sooner.
