If you’ve been following this column for a little while, you know that a great way to get into it is to catch my eye at a boat show with a vessel that manages to somehow stand out aesthetically among the billions of dollars worth of high-end toys.

The Revolver 42, which I crawled all over during this year’s Palm Beach International Boat Show, is undoubtedly one of those boats.

With a racy, teardrop profile, a lime-green hull, and black superstructure, you simply couldn’t miss her. And let me tell you, she ain’t for everybody, but she’s definitely for somebody.

The 42 is alleged to perform just as sportily as she looks. Her hull was designed by Michael Peters, who isn’t just some columnist who occasionally shows up in these pages comparing megayachts to toilets. He also happens to be one of the best boat designers in the known world, responsible for creating boats that have won 13 different offshore racing world titles. The Revolver isn’t going to be quite in that class—she’s got about a foot more beam than a true performance boat. But she should fly, especially with optional twin 700-horsepower Mercury engines matched to SCi stern drives peeking out from her transom.

The 42 is a boat that was designed to get you from Miami to Key West faster than you can get there in your Corvette—and she’s probably more fun to drive. (Hmm, I may have to try that out for a story, actually.) So if you like what you read here, keep your eyes open on the docks at your next show. If she’s there, you’ll find her.
