Exclusive: Sarnico Yachts Spider 46
Sarnico Yachts is under new management: a team comprised of Marc-Udo Broich and James Michael Ryan, the men in charge of Maestro Yachts. The new collaboration, which has partnered with both the naval architecture firm Nuvolari-Lenard and Cantieri di Sarnico, looks to couple Italian elegance and flair with American practicality and dimensions. Sarnico has multiple models set to launch in the near future, one of the most notable of which is the Spider 46.
One of the 46’s most admirable traits will be her hull, which is being modeled after those of true performance boats. The projected outcome of this design choice will be a boat that should top 46 mph and be able to cruise with maximum efficiency at or above 35 mph.
The 46 will also feature a hybrid surface-drive system that Sarnico says will obviate handling issues common to surface drives at lower speeds. Once on plane though, the system operates as a true high-performance surface drive, which accounts for the boat’s noteworthy top-end and cruise speeds.
The 46’s interior will recall the style of the famous Italian lake boats of the 1950s and 1960s. Handcrafted, polished wood and butter-soft leather will set an elegant tone and showcase the high-quality craftsmanship.
The boat will be just as striking on the outside, with a low, slick profile that looks like it could slice through concrete. She can be alternatively configured with a sculptured hardtop that offers protection from the sun all the way to the open aft section of the boat, which will have opposing benchseats as well as a bar and galley that will help promote the good times onboard. Aft of that, a hydraulic swim platform will be a boon for anyone looking to take a refreshing dip.
The Spider’s exterior paint job is just as noteworthy. With a jet-black hull and striking golden upper portion, this sleek and sexy 46 will be nearly impossible to miss, wherever she may roam.
